try harder

Perhaps I should try harder
Leave my sleeveworn heart next to the vase of dried flowers
Wait.
I don’t keep dried flowers,
anymore
Only towers
built of shame and regret
To recall
That I’ve yet
To accomplish what they set
As my dues to be let in the door
To peep at their show
Till my pockets are empty
of original intent
And I’m content
To applaud their march
in rhythm’s stead

    1. Thank you. Your comment means a lot to me. I’m really not qualified in any way, but I will take a look when my plate is less full.
