time and space

If you could see what I saw:
A gesture fumbling for a pose,
A lie suspended in clenched jaws,
A gaze fixed upon a door

Though I’d like to think it was kindness
That made you avert your eyes,
I know it was indifference
You no longer cared to hide

Time stopped and fled into the street
To hide from what it had unveiled;
Another turn with nothing new
But the shame of being revealed

Feeling so ridiculously small,
In that nothing I felt, knew, bore
Something more intensely certain
Than ever encountered before

Transfixed by truth distended
Expanding to fill the space
Leaving no room for a breath
I drowned in silent (dis)grace
